Deerfield Valley HealthCare Volunteers, Inc., P.O. Box 275, Wilmington, VT 05363 Related Categories: Art & Culture | Non-Profit The Deerfield Valley Health Care Volunteers, Inc. is a 501C3 nonprofit corporation with its headquarters in Wilmington, VT. This organization is committed to providing financial support to promote specifically the health and welfare of the communities of the Deerfield Valley, Vermont. These communities are namely Wilmington, Whitingham, Jacksonville, Dover, Searsburg, Readsboro, Wardsboro and Stamford. HISTORY In 1963, when a handful of women decided to raise money for the new Deerfield Valley Health Center, Art On The Mountain was born. Destined to become one of the most successful fundraisers in the area, it supported itself through the exhibition and sale of the works of New England artists and craftspeople as well as through donations and sponsorships from both businesses and private individuals. Each year, as our valley changed, so did our focus. Programs directly assisting our local population were instituted (School Dental Program, Scholarship Program, Friends in Need) and funds were also given to local organizations already addressing the needs of our community. Art On The Mountain was held at the Haystack Base Lodge until 2000. For several years the show moved to different venues. Presently, the show is on hiatus until a permanent hoome for the show is available. Since 1963 hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds raised at the Art On The Mountain exhibit and from other donations have been disbursed to the following programs:
TODAY We are constantly looking for new avenues for raising funds for our projects. Ongoing fundraising includes Art On The Mountain At The Deerhill Inn, Sale of Woman Pins and a grant for our Dental Program from our anonymous "Tooth Fairy". A recent raffle of a gently used SUC was successful. Upcoming events include the Showshoe For Knowledge to fund our Scholarship Program and the Art Of Cooking On The Mountain - a cookbook with recipes from local residents, local restaurants and businesses and second homeowners. The DVHCV invites you to join them in providing important services to the community. Please let us know if we can include you in our group of community volunteers. Meetings are generally held monthly on the Second Tuesday. For more information call 802-464-2110 or email admin@artonthemountain.org
