Article VI, Historic Review District Summary Section 600-602 The Statutory authority for the Town to enact these regulations, and the purpose and goals of the District are almost unchanged from the current provisions. Section 603 The district boundaries are also unchanged. Current tax map numbers and owners have been included. Section 610-620 This section has been simplified while remaining true to the original provisions. All requirements for conformance with a specific color palate have been deleted. The sign provisions are completely new. Now included are: A List of definitions Design criteria (size, placement, height, illumination) List of signs that will not require a permit Signs may now be approved administratively (by the Zoning Administrator) instead of the DRB.
Section 630 New in this section is: List of repairs/signs/decorations that do not require a permit List of changes/alterations that do require a permit, but administrative approval is allowed for several items. Only larger, more complex projects will need to be reviewed by the DRB. Incorporation of the US Government’s National Park Service Briefs. These are included to give guidance to property owners and provide a standard so owners will know what will be approved most quickly. Amendments to a previous approval may be granted quickly (administrative approval) without re-visiting the Board. Section 640 As before, the Selectboard may appoint a Historic Review Committee to advise the DRB, but one is not required. New maps are also included, one with parcel boundaries and the other with aerial photos.
