Gearing up for the Winter Season
Guest Blogger: Kelly Pawlak General Manager Mount Snow Resort
One of the great things about living in a ski town are all the great ski and snowboard shops we have access to.
From some of the best boot fitting in the country at Boot Works , to grass roots brands like Snug Life being manufactured right here in the Valley.
Getting geared up for winter is easy – the hardest part is all the choices!
Once a year, we also have the value option of the good old ski and skate sale.
Every November, the Deerfield Valley Rotary Club puts on a fantastic winter gear sale that is perfect
for the large family, someone on a budget or if you are new to a sport and don’t want to go “all in”
until you have tried it.
I am lucky enough to be a co-chair of the event and over the years we have sold thousands of pieces of
gear, new and used. It is not just skis and skates. There are snowboards, cross country gear, parkas,
snow boots, snow shoes and even your random sleds and Snurfers.
Do you remember the Snurfer? As a kid, we had so much fun on that invention!
If you are going to be around the Deerfield Valley On November 14, I encourage you to stop by the the
Deerfeild Valley Winter Sports Sale. You may find exactly what you are looking for and at the very least,
you will get psyched up for the winter because the buzz at the sale is addicting! Here’s the details:
Date: Saturday, November 14
Location: Twin Valley Elementary School, Route 100, Wilmington, VT
Time: The sale will run from 9 am – 3 pm.
Rotary’s Winter Sports Sale features a wide variety of winter sporting gear and clothing. The most
popular items are new and used skis, snowboards, boots, parkas and snow pants. In addition, shoppers
will find gloves, helmets, hats, goggles and snow shoes. With a large variety of items to choose from
there is a price point for every budget and lots of bargains to be found. Many people have asked for
junior twin tip skis so we will have a better selection of these this year.
The Winter Sports Sale is a consignment sale and the Rotary is encouraging interested parties to gather
up all of their winter sporting gear, in good condition. Straight skis are not needed. Of the proceeds,
30% will go to the Rotary Fund and 70% will go to the seller.
This sale is part of the Deerfield Valley Rotary Club’s annual fundraising.
The goal of the Deerfield Valley Rotary Club Fund is to provide financial support to individuals, groups,
and events that contribute to improving the quality of life in the Deerfield Valley.
The Fund also endeavors to provide financial support to efforts to improve the quality of life internationally,
whether through support of programs based in other countries,or support of Deerfield Valley residents traveling to other countries
whose intention is to contribute their time and service to improving the quality of life in the area to which they are traveling.
Items can be dropped off at the school on
Friday, November 13 from 4 – 7 pm.
