DESCRIPTION:Bartleby’s Books will host two events on Saturday\, July 23rd during the Village Stroll. A reading and signing with Vermont author\, Catherine Drake will begin at 4:30pm and will be followed at 5:30pm by a musical performance featuring La Mechante et la Connard. \n \nCatherine Drake will read from her new novel\, The Treehouse on Dog River Road.  Catherine Drake lives with her husband in Stowe\, Vermont. The Treehouse on Dog River Road is her first novel. About the book: After being laid off from her depressing job in Boston\, Hannah needs a challenge and change of pace. She heads to Vermont for the summer to take care of her sister’s kids and soon embarks on an ambitious project: building a treehouse for her niece and nephew. As she hammers away\, Hannah also begins to mentally construct how to jump-start her life with a new job and a move to the west. But then she meets Nathan from next door\, who has spent ten years moving from city to city and now just wants to settle in Vermont. With her decision to change courses suddenly complicated\, Hannah will have to make tough decisions on love and the life she so desperately wants to build. \n \nAnd\, after a three year hiatus\, La Mechante et le Connard returns to Bartleby’s Books to put on an acoustic concert featuring fun and fresh music. The repertoire is a mix of jazz age standards and popular hits\, arranged specifically for the instrumentation. Casey Jayne Roger plays ukelele and and sings and Cyril Roger plays the double bass. La Mechante et le Connard perform in France most of the year\, from Cannes to Sancerre\, and perform in Newport\, RI during the summer. The duo is available for booking in Vermont in summer 2023 and beyond for weddings\, rehearsal dinners and cocktail parties.
