The Craft of Pizza at American Flatbread
At American Flatbread, pizza is more than just food—it’s a celebration of craftsmanship and tradition. The restaurant focuses on using the finest all-natural ingredients to create pizzas that are light, crisp, and full of flavor. Baked in a wood-fired earthen oven, each pie reflects a commitment to quality and authenticity. As a result, every bite offers an unforgettable experience.
Traditional Baking Methods
Each pizza is handmade with great care. The dough is hand-rolled, and the toppings feature fresh vegetables and locally-sourced meats. The oven, fueled by wood, creates a perfectly crisp crust that captures the essence of traditional baking. In fact, the combination of fire, stone, and earth brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients, making each pizza both nourishing and delicious.
A Cozy, Welcoming Atmosphere
The atmosphere at American Flatbread complements the food. Inside, a cozy fireplace and pool tables set the stage for a laid-back, welcoming experience. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family. Furthermore, the wood-fired oven fills the room with the comforting scent of baking bread, creating a warm, inviting space that enhances the dining experience.

The idea for American Flatbread began in 1985. While working in the kitchen at Tucker Hill Restaurant, George developed a passion for cooking with wood. He built an outdoor oven, and Tuesday nights became “Flatbread Nights,” where the bread was baked under the stars.
With help, George expanded the concept in 1988. He added a wholesale component and a retail outlet, which set the foundation for the current model. George continues to refine his vision for the food at American Flatbread. He remains deeply involved in daily operations and has become an influential figure in both his community and the culinary world.
