Peak Is Getting Closer
The color is really starting to pick up! While the landscape is still predominantly green, we’re now at about 75% green, with more and more yellow, orange, and red showing up across the hillsides. The change is especially noticeable over the past few days, and we expect things to start moving quickly from here.
And a reminder for foliage chasers: the peak window can be surprisingly short. A single day of heavy rain or strong winds can take a lot of leaves off the trees very quickly. So when planning your foliage getaway, it’s often better to arrive a little early and enjoy a mix of green and color than to wait for that perfect peak and risk arriving after the leaves have dropped.
One thing we can’t predict with certainty is exactly when peak color will arrive. Every year is different, and we don’t want to make promises on behalf of Mother Nature! What we can say is that the next two-plus weeks should offer plenty of opportunities to experience fall in the Deerfield Valley. Come a little early, come during the progression, but most importantly, don’t wait so long that you miss the show entirely.
